FUNCTIONS OF 3XDRY®:

  

AEROTHERM®

Aerotherm® thermal insulation harnesses the unique properties of Aerogel which is the main component of Aerotherm®. This cutting edge technology will protect you from extreme hot and cold weather conditions.

Composed of over 90% air, aerogel is a highly effective insulator with the lowest thermal conductivity of any solid; Aerotherm uses silica aerogel in producing a strong, durable, and flexible material that is 2 to 8 times more effective than traditional thermal insulation.

  • Highest thermal performance
  • Minimum thickness, which allows a thinner design with superior thermal performance
  • Loft not required to maintain insulating power
  • Doesn't compress or lose performance under a load

Aerogel is created when silica is gelled in a solvent. When the solvent is removed, "puffed up" sand with up to 99% porosity remains. Nanoporosity slows heat and mass transport, which makes Aerogel an effective insulator; it also has the lowest thermal conductivity of any solid. This strong, flexible, durable material is 2 to 8 times more effective than traditional thermal insulation.

Other materials require loft to achieve their insulation value, but pressure causes them to compress dramatically and lose their loft along with their insulating capacity. Aerotherm® barely compresses and doesn't need loft to deliver its high insulation value. Only a 2mm thick layer of Aerotherm® is enough for effective apparel insulation; footwear insulation typically uses 3mm.

At 15 psi pressure, Aerotherm® retains over 95% of its original thickness and over 97% of its original thermal performance.

The breathability rating is a measurement of vapor movement through the material, and is displayed as the grams of water that move through a square meter of fabric in a 24 hr period (g/m2/24hr). Take this breathability rating as a guideline, with a grain of salt, because lab testing results for breathability vary greatly and don’t always reflect real-world performance.

CLEVERCARE®

 How to reduce climate impact, effort and money caring for fashion the clever way.

RECOMMENDATIONS AND TIPS:

  • Washing - Don’t wash your clothes too often. Remove stains manually, and air the clothes to freshen up after each use.Several studies indicate that garments are often washed more frequently than necessary. By reducing the number of times you wash your garments you can actively help to reduce your carbon footprint.
  • Temperature - Lower the temperature when machine washing. Dropping 60°C to 30°C, or warm to cold, saves a lot of half the energy EV:Wash care labels indicate the highest temperature allowed without compromising a garment’s quality. However, most detergents and modern washing machines clean your laundry just as well in lower temperatures.
  • Drying - Natural drying is energy free.By hang drying your laundry you save energy, and your clothes will stay in shape and even last longer too.
  • Ironing - Think of ironing only when necessary.Save energy as well as the effort! Remove clothes from the washing machine and hang dry them as soon as the wash cycle has finished minimizing creasing. Think to take your (hang) dried laundry with you into the bathroom while showering – often the steam smooth out creases and folds.
  • Dry cleaning - Look for dry cleaners who offer a “greener” option to traditional dry cleaning methods.Professional cleaning whenever it is recommended is often essential. There are different dry cleaning solvents on the market.

DERMIZAX®

Dermizax® material is exceptionally waterproof while remaining moisture permeable and resisting condensation. Its smooth texture, lightweight configuration and high elasticity enhance movement for the wearer, providing ideal comfort even for rigorous activities like mountaineering and winter sports.

Unlike a conventional waterproof coating, Dermizax® technology features a water-repellent finish that's applied evenly to every fiber, which gives the fabric air permeability and reduces stuffiness. In addition, the absorbent and quick-drying material soaks up perspiration and disperses it evenly away from the skin for more rapid evaporation.

DERMIZAX® FABRICS:

DRYDYE®

Drydye ® Technology is a revolutionary waterless dyeing process which saves 25 liters of fresh water per yard. This clean technology uses pure dyestuff and no chemical additives that dilute performance.

The Drydye™ process gives excellent results as far as dye levelness and shade repeatability. An independent life cycle assessment confirmed that Drydye ™ technology significantly reduce the carbon footprint of polyester fabric and produces no toxic discharge in the dyeing process.

Carbon Dioxide is considered the best supercritical fluid as it is naturally occurring, chemically inert, and it does not release volatile organic compounds. Traditional dyeing of polyester uses approximately 50 to 100 liters of water per kilo of fabric in pretreatment, dyeing, and post treatment (drying).

HOW DRYDYE WORKS®:

Drydye™ Technology uses a supercritical fluid process to eliminate all water in the dyeing process.The supercritical fluid CO2 causes the polymer fiber to swell allowing the pure dyestuff to easily diffuse within the polyester.

A SCHOELLER® TECHNOLOGY

Isn’t it fascinating how ducks can dive under water and re-emerge with their feathers still dry?

Like all waterfowl, ducks produce an oily secretion that makes their plumage to repel water. The ecorepel® technology transfers this natural water repellence to textile surfaces. ecorepel® imitates this natural protection as a highly functional and odorless high-tech finish.

ecorepel® is environmentally sound as the technology is biodegradable (according to OECD 302 B (80 – 100%)) and free from fluorocarbons (PFC).

GORE-TEX®

The Gore-Tex® membrane is the heart of all Gore-Tex materials.

It contains over 1.4 billion microscopic pores per square cm (9 billion per inch). These pores are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, but 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule, which makes the Gore-Tex® membrane completely waterproof from the outside, while allowing perspiration to escape from the inside. An oleophobic (or oil-hating) substance is integrated into the membrane, preventing the penetration of body oils and insect repellent that could otherwise affect the membrane. In order to meet the specific needs of each end use, W. L. Gore & Associates has developed different Gore-Tex® membranes and applies them as appropriate. Garments made with Gore-Tex® fabric are durably waterproof and windproof, combined with optimized breathability – enduring products that maximize protection and comfort.

  • Unique Gore-Seam® TAPE ensures completely sealed seams and tiny stitch holes for durable waterproofness and liquid resistance. Water is kept out even through prolonged use in harsh conditions.
  • Gore-Tex® products meet or exceed the windproof standard (fabric’s air permeability must be 5 l/m2sec or less).
  • Gore-Tex® standards require that during heavy exertion, fabrics must breathe well enough to allow sweat to easily evaporate.

WATERPROOF

Gore-Tex® guarantees truly durable waterproofing; even over time in the toughest real-life conditions, their fabrics won’t leak. Keeping water out allows your body to stay warm and dry so you can continue your activity in total comfort. 

WINDPROOF

A fabric can only be considered truly windproof if its air permeability is .03 cmm (volume of air that passes through one cubic meter of fabric per minute) or less. All Gore-Tex® products meet or exceed this standard, preserving your microclimate and keeping you comfortable.

BREATHABILITY

A frequently misunderstood term, breathability is not a fabric’s ability to let air move through it. Instead, it refers to how well the garment lets sweat escape in the form of moisture vapor. Gore-Tex® fabrics breathe well during heavy exertion, reducing overheating and perspiration build-up.

SEAM-SEALING

Since every stitch in a seam is a potential leak, Gore-Tex® products use Gore-Seam® tape applied by specially trained manufacturers to ensure their fabrics are durably waterproof.

The technology used to control moisture is the highest priority for base layers and next-to-skin surfaces. Sweat and moisture vapor must be in a constant state of flux to ensure the fabric doesn't become saturated and lose performance characteristics. 

This is why Polartec® Power Dry® is engineered with our patented bi-component knit construction to enhance drying capabilities across the entire fabric structure. This dual surface approach maximizes performance by mechanically wicking sweat and vapor off your skin and directly transferring it to the outer surface where it diffuses for quick dry times.

How it works:

Polartec® Power Dry® pulls moisture directly from the skin and transfers it to the outer surface to quickly dissipate. This continuous evaporation process helps to keep you cool (as your body heat increases) and warm (when temperatures begin to drop)

By physically embedding these wicking capabilities into the fabric structure, Polartec® Power Dry® doesn’t rely on chemical fiber treatments to transfer moisture. Chemical approaches to managing saturation only provide a temporary solution that can wash away and leave you with a base fabric that doesn't perform.

R&D stands for research and development. Our R&D labeled garments undergo extra tough tests before being introduced on the market. The garment tests are performed by professional sports people affiliated with our Peak Friends. THE RECCO® RESCUE SYSTEM

The RECCO® Rescue System's two-part technology starts with the RECCO® detectors, which are carried by ski resorts and mountain rescue teams. RECCO® reflectors, worn by skiers, riders and other outdoors people, bounce back a directional signal that guides the rescuer straight to the reflector. Unlike other technologies, multiple RECCO® reflectors on one person can improve detection.

RECCO® teams up with over 700 resorts and rescue services worldwide to improve security for mountain visitors.

The system is sophisticated yet easy to use. Organized rescue teams can utilize the lightweight, hand-held detector on the ground or from a helicopter for fast searching of large or dangerous areas.

How Windstopper is constructed:
